Visit the 2026 Brampton Artist in Residence Shiemara Hogarth to see what she is working on, the craft materials she is using, or to simply talk to her about craft making.

Visit 2026 Brampton Artist in Residence Shiemara Hogarth during her office hours to see works in progress, craft materials and references; learn about upcoming workshops, or simply have a conversation about craft making. Presented in partnership with the Brampton Arts Organization.
 
About the Artist: 
Shiemara Hogarth is a Jamaica-born, Brampton-based textile and craft artist whose practice explores themes of belonging, memory, and storytelling across weaving, embroidery, digital printing, and sculptural forms. 
 
Her MFA thesis Personal Geographies, supported by the Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship, has been exhibited nationally, her curated exhibition Threading Black has been shown in Edmonton and Calgary, and her writing has been featured in Studio Magazine.  
 
Trained in history, material art and design, and craft media, Hogarth’s work has been included in Volume 2 of the Jarislowsky Institute for Studies in Canadian Art’s Craft & Craftivism: A Biographical Dictionary of Contemporary Ceramic, Fibre and Class Artists in Canada.
