Tuesday, October 20
7:00pm - 8:30pm
Join us in partnership with the ROM to explore Ajrak block printing textiles, from the technique's origins in the Indus Valley to the workshops of Sindh and Kutch. Registration required.
How can a piece of cotton tell a story thousands of years old? Join us in partnership with the Royal Ontario Museum to explore Ajrak block printing textiles, from the technique's origins in the Indus Valley to the workshops of Sindh and Kutch. We will discover why these textiles were first made, explore the meanings behind the designs, and discuss the variations in design by region, the complex process of creating these products, and the labour practices keeping this ancient craft alive and stylish today. Registration required.
