Literature and visual arts connect in this distinctive book club.
Dive into the sombre themes of "Forgiveness" by Mark Sakamoto at our upcoming Book Club session. We'll navigate through the book's exploration of resilience and the haunting repercussions of historical events on individuals and their descendants.
Complementing this introspective journey is The Suitcase Project—an art exhibit by Kayla Isomura that takes a stark look at the lives of Yonsei and Gosei individuals. Forced to ponder what they would pack if suddenly displaced, these descendants share their stories through a raw display of photographs, short films, and interviews. Across British Columbia, Canada, and Washington, USA, more than 80 subjects lay bare the enduring impact of internment and discrimination on their lives.
In this event spanning literature and art, we delve into the complexities of history and its lingering echoes. Join us for an evening of contemplation, where "Forgiveness" meets The Suitcase Project, unravelling narratives of struggle and survival.
